The 21st Edition of AIPS-Asia Congress got underway in the city of Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Saturday (22)
28 member countries took part in this 2day congress with many invitees hosted by the Saudi Sports Media Federation.
The Chairman of the Asian Sports Press Association (AIPS ASIA) Sattam Al-Sahli expressed his happiness on meeting under one roof and gave the credit to the Saudi Sports Media Federation that has made a new history for its nation. He said a year ago during the 21st general assembly meeting of the Saudi Sports Media Federation was just a dream.
He added: “We have great hopes and aspire to making many accomplishments. The presence of federation members from 30 countries and seven delegations from countries in Europe, Africa and America to the Congress is a leap forward in the efforts to support sports media in the Asian continent. This great accomplishment is embodied in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Asian Sports Press Association and the Asian Football Federation, aside from organizing a training program for youth correspondents and workshops for women. These confirm our determination to make our hopes come true.”
The Chairman of the International Sports Media Federation Gianni Merlo stressed the importance of the meeting for the unity of the Asian continent and the international federation. He added that this moment is a positive turning point in the Asian Sports Press Association.
