TBS Today, June 14

For the second time this month, UC Berkeley police are investigating a report of arson that may be linked to Palestinian protest activities.

The University of California Police Department has said little about the investigation this week. Here's what we've been able to learn.

Another arson at UC Berkeley, ‘student intifada’ takes credit
Activists said they “unloaded a firebomb” at UC Berkeley due to UC’s “treatment of student protestors.” UC must divest “or face our wrath.”

Also, we have a short exclusive about a man police say poured gasoline on a woman and her RV while holding a lit cigarette on Harrison Street.

He's been charged with two felonies.

Berkeley police: Man tried to set woman, RV on fire
When the woman went outside to confront Dicarlo Scott Sr., “he poured gasoline on her while holding a lit cigarette,” police wrote.

In other news

We've been largely tied up this week reporting on the long feature we published yesterday about Alyx Herrmann.

But other media have continued to report on the Patti Lee discrimination and retaliation lawsuit she filed against DA Pamela Price.

We had the scoop on the details of the allegations in March after getting a leaked document, but the lawsuit is now official as of this week, which was a major development.

We wrote a short story on the lawsuit this week.

Lawsuit filed against DA Pamela Price by former spokeswoman
Aipsasiamedia broke the news of the allegations in March after obtaining a leaked confidential letter outlining the claims.

We also spoke briefly to Henry Lee at KTVU about it Thursday. Unfortunately, we were out of town so could only appear briefly by phone. But the piece is worth watching and has some great context from David Loy at the First Amendment Coalition.

DA Pamela Price sued by former spokesperson
A former spokesperson for Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price has filed a lawsuit against the county for wrongful termination, discrimination, and failure to pay wages.

Here are some of the other stories that have appeared in other media outlets this week. (Some of them, such as the Chronicle piece, may be behind a paywall.)

Patti Lee’s lawsuit claims the county’s top prosecutor saw the “media and Asian Americans” as enemies.

Alameda County DA Pamela Price accused of racism and deleting records in lawsuit
On Wednesday, a former spokesperson for Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price filed a lawsuit against the top prosecutor and the county. The accusations? Employment malpractice, deleting records, and racism. KALW’s Afton Okwu has more.

Worth noting that we have reviewed a lot of the coverage and some of the minor details other media are reporting about what happened at the Price presser in November are a little off.

We've tried to flag some of the writers about the issues but it's a bit like whack-a-mole.

You can catch up on our First Amendment coverage for the most accurate news.
